Pak spinner Ajmal has got his angles confused

China National News (ANI) Thursday 9th February, 2012

Pakistan off-spinner Saeed Ajmal, who took 24 wickets for Pakistan in the three Test series against England, has surprised the International Cricket Council with the claim that it had given him special dispensation to bend his arm 23.5 degrees.

Under existing cricketing laws, 15 degrees is the maximum allowed.

Sensing a controversy, the ICC said in a statement: "There is no dispensation of more than the 15 degrees we allow to Ajmal or anybody else."

Ajmal, 34, was reported for a suspect action in 2009 before being tested and cleared at the University of Western Australia.

According to the ICC, Ajmal may be confused by the way his elbow hangs when his arm is by his side, which is about 15 degrees, and the flexed angle, which is 23 degrees. (ANI)
