BEIJING, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- The following are the updates on the global fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

NEW YORK -- U.S. COVID-19 deaths surpassed 370,000 on Saturday, according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) at Johns Hopkins University.
With the national caseload topping 21.9 million, the death toll across the United States rose to 370,119 as of 2:22 p.m. local time (1922 GMT), according to the CSSE data.
New York State reported 39,334 fatalities, topping the U.S. state-level death toll list. Texas recorded the second most deaths of 29,645, followed by California with 29,266 deaths and Florida with 22,666 deaths, the CSSE tally showed.

PARIS -- France on Saturday reported 20,177 new COVID-19 cases, bringing its accumulative tally to 2,767,312, according to the country's health authorities.
The COVID-19 death toll in the country rose by 168 in the past day to 67,599, the third highest in Europe after Britain and Italy, and the seventh in the world, showed data posted on the government's website on epidemic indicators.

QUITO -- Ecuador surpassed 220,000 cases of COVID-19 after registering 1,201 new infections in the last 24 hours, bringing the total to 220,349, the Ministry of Public Health reported on Saturday.
According to the ministry, the country registered 10 new deaths from the virus in the last 24 hours, bringing the death toll to 9,593, in addition to another 4,584 probable deaths from the virus.

LONDON -- The coronavirus-related deaths in Britain surpassed 80,000 on Saturday with another 1,035 reported in the country.
The total number of deaths within 28 days of a positive COVID-19 test now stands at 80,868, according to the latest official figures.

SHIJIAZHUANG -- A total of 354 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in the citywide nucleic acid testing in Shijiazhuang, capital of north China's Hebei Province, authorities said on Saturday.
From Jan. 6 to 8, over 10.25 million residents in the city were tested for COVID-19, said Ma Yujun, acting mayor of Shijiazhuang, at a press conference.

JERUSALEM -- The number of COVID-19 patients in serious condition in Israel increased from 920 to 964, out of 1,646 hospitalized patients, the state's ministry of Health said on Saturday.
The latest figure marked a new record of patients in serious condition since the pandemic outbreak in the country in late February.

OTTAWA -- Canada's COVID-19 cases surpassed 650,000 as of Saturday afternoon, with the total hitting 650,922, including 16,788 deaths, according to CTV.
Canada's national-level data on Jan. 1 to 7 indicated a daily average of 7,672 new cases, and many areas continued to experience high infection rates, said the Public Health Agency of Canada on Saturday.

HAVANA -- Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel on Saturday thanked China for its solidarity following a donation of medical equipment to help Cuba better combat the COVID-19 pandemic.
"We express our gratitude to the Chinese government and people for their continuous solidarity and true friendship," said the president on his Twitter account in response to the donation of 38 ventilators by China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
