BEIJING, June 23 (Xinhua) -- Marouane Fellaini's form is picking up, even though he is still several matches away from his peak, said Shandong Luneng head coach Hao Wei.
Fellaini sat out Shandong's first two matches nursing an injury, coming on as second-half substitute in the ensuing three games to score two crucial goals as Shandong beat Guangzhou City 1-0 and Dalian Pro 3-0 in the Chinese Super League.
"Fellaini and other overseas players are picking up their form, but they still need to play several matches to reach their best form," Hao said at Thursday's pre-match press conference.
Fellaini conceded after the Dalian Pro game on Tuesday that he was not in good shape, and was finding it hard to improve his fitness in the subtropical heat in Haikou, where Shandong are playing the first part of this season's Chinese Super League fixtures.
Shandong Taishan are to face Zhejiang FC on Friday.
