QINGDAO, China - China announced a Rs15 billion grant to Nepal on Wednesday to invest in projects chosen by Nepal for the year 2022.
The announcement was made by Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, who is also a state councilor, during Foreign Minister Narayan Khadka's bilateral visit to Qingdao.
Khadka is in China on a high-level visit, the first from Nepal to the north since the formation of the Sher Bahadur Deuba government in July last year.
According to officials, Khadka and Wang discussed the evolving situation in the Taiwan Strait during their meeting on Wednesday.
According to reports, Wang called US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan a "complete political provocation."
"This move [Pelosi's Taiwan visit] seriously violates the United States' commitments and seriously violates China's sovereignty," the Chinese foreign ministry said after the talks between Khadka and Wang.
"Of course, China must take necessary and resolute countermeasures, beginning with safeguarding its sovereignty and territorial integrity, maintaining non-interference in internal affairs, the basic norm of international relations, and truly safeguarding the peace and stability of the Taiwan Strait." The statement read.
