CHONGQING, May 26 (Xinhua) -- The presence of a total of 51 wild plants under state protection in China in the Yintiaoling national nature reserve in southwest China's Chongqing Municipality has been confirmed. This follows the completion of a three-year survey focusing on wild plants in the reserve, according to the reserve's administration center.
Key protected wild plants discovered this time include three kinds of national first-class protected wild plants, 48 species of national second-class protected plants, as well as 23 species of municipal-level protected plants.
The survey not only found out more about the family background of protected plants in the Yintiaoling national nature reserve, but also enriched the flora of Chongqing, providing a reference for biodiversity conservation in the municipality.
The Yintiaoling national nature reserve in Chongqing has a complex geological structure, with an altitude difference of nearly 2,400 meters. It preserves a large number of rare and endangered species in the northern mountains of the subtropical region, which is of high scientific research and protection value.
Currently, there are 11 vegetation types and 49 formations in the Yintiaoling national nature reserve in Chongqing, which provide a good living environment for abundant wild animals and plants.
