SYDNEY, NSW, Australia - New Coalition Leader Angus Taylor has led the Liberal-National Coalition back in front of One Nation on his first weekend as Liberal Leader with the Roy Morgan Poll showing primary support for the L-NP Coalition up 3.5% to 23.5%, and One Nation down 3.5% to 21.5%. Support for the ALP was up 1.5% to 32%, the Greens were down 0.5% to 12.5%, and support for Independents/Other Parties was down 1% to 10.5% according to the latest Roy Morgan survey conducted from February 13-16, 2026, with a representative Australia-wide cross-section of 526 electors.

On a two-party preferred basis, the ALP on 55% (down 3.5% from February 9-13, 2026 – the days before the leadership change) is ahead of the Coalition on 45% (up 3.5%). If a Federal Election were held now the ALP would be returned to Government with a similar majority.

Analysis by gender shows men swung heavily to the Coalition on a two-party preferred basis on the weekend with the L-NP on 52.5% (up 8.5%) compared to the ALP on 47.5% (down 8.5%). In contrast, for women, there was a slight improvement for the ALP on 62% (up 1%) compared to the L-NP on 38% (down 1%).

The Roy Morgan Government Confidence Rating increased 6.5 points to 78. A majority of 55% (down 2%) of Australians say the country is ‘going in the wrong direction' compared to only 33% (up 4.5%) that say the country is ‘going in the right direction'.

The latest Roy Morgan survey is based on interviewing a representative cross-section of 526 Australian electors over the last few days of February 13-16, 2026. Of all electors surveyed last week, 7% (unchanged) can't say who they would vote for. When comparing different polls, it is always important to make sure to take note of the dates when the polls are conducted to undertake a proper comparison between two polls.
